Advanced: Straight or Hollow Joints?

How to Set Your Advanced Straight Line Edgers for Perfect Glue Joints?

• Ripping Process
Use the advanced edger to rip the edge of two consecutive boards and place the two sawn edges together.

Two Boards Stack

• Spacing Control
Use a feeler gauge to determine the spacing and evaluate whether you need to modify the position of the guideways at the front of the chain conveyor.

Feeler Gauge

• Get Straight Joints
If your application requires straight joints, the adjustable guideways at the front of the chain conveyor should be adjusted perfectly in line with the chain bed.

Straight Joint

• Adjust Front Guideways
1. Loosen the bolts (A) on the bottom of chain bed.
2. Loosen the bolt (B) with a maximum of a quarter turn counterclockwise.
3. Loosen the bolt (D) with a maximum of a quarter turn counterclockwise.
4. Tighten the bolts (C) with a maximum of a quarter turn clockwise.
5. Repeat the same process on the right side.

Guide Way Adjustment

• Get Hollow Joints
If your application requires hollow joints, the adjustable guideways at the front of the chain conveyor should be adjusted slightly away from the center of the chain bed.

Hollow Joint

• Adjust Front Guideways
1. Loosen the bolts (A) on the bottom of chain bed.
2. Loosen the bolt (B) with a maximum of a quarter turn counterclockwise.
3. Loosen the bolt (C) with a maximum of a quarter turn counterclockwise.
4. Tighten the bolts (D) with a maximum of a quarter turn clockwise.
5. Repeat the same process on the right side.

Guide Way Adjustment

• Note Prior Adjustment
Each advanced edger is set according to customer requirements before leaving the factory, thus, do not change the settings if you are unfamiliar with the process.

Warning: do not adjust the guideways when the chain conveyor is running.

Caution: hollow joint position increases the abrasion of moving parts within the conveyor section.
